We are friends, family, neighbors, professionals, DIYers, and concerned citizens, working together to keep furniture and home furnishings out of landfills. Off the Curb, Inc.’s board drives our mission and vision with an eclectic mix of leaders, ranging from the creative to the business savvy.

Shelley Franco


Vice President

Derek B. Groves, MSOM, CFRE

Derek is currently the President & Chief Development Officer of Essentia Health Foundation and formerly the Chief Operating Officer of a university foundation. After becoming a fundraising volunteer and learning that leadership and emotional intelligence can influence organizational outcomes, Derek developed an affinity for teaching his community how to use philanthropy as a vessel to affect social change. Derek is a certified fundraising executive, certified organizational development practitioner, holds a Master of Science in Organizational Management and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.

Cecilia Groves

Cecilia spent a decade as a jack-of-all-trades for the Erie County Diabetes Association. Although her official title was office manager, she wore many hats, including chief fundraiser, public relations maven, newsletter editor, and membership coordinator. Her children, Shelley and Derek, logged many hours in their mother’s office and at local fundraisers, watching her work for the greater good. Cecilia possesses firsthand knowledge of relationship building within a community and the power of volunteers on a mission. She also espouses topnotch organizational and note-taking skills.

Jennifer Mcardle

Jen is an innovative and self-motivated leader with more than 19 years of management experience in Information Technology and Health Care. Her expertise includes budgeting and staffing analysis, coaching, implementing strategic initiatives, project management and oversight. She is currently an IT Manager at HM Health Solutions. Jen is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Economics and a minor in Finance and Management. She also earned an MIS certificate from Robert Morris University. Jen enjoys time with her family especially with her daughter, where she is inspired every day to be the best she can be.

Tammy Janero

Tammy is a seasoned senior leader with more than 21 years’ experience in the technology and financial industries. She is currently head of Enterprise Crisis Management for PNC, where she oversees the Command and Control framework for the management of large-scale critical crisis events for the bank, including but not limited to: weather events, government or political events, and high profile trial and protests occurring in the PNC footprint. She is also responsible for the development of a formal life safety program for the Bank. Tammy is a problem solver and creative thinker who excels at developing teams that produce innovative enterprise results. She holds a BSBA in business administration from Robert Morris University.

Jennifer Ohrman

Jen is a former physical therapist, who turned entrepreneur over 20 years ago. In those two decades, she’s built a successful home-based business and has become an accomplished mentor and coach in the wellness world. She is a published author and speaker, who loves to inspire, uplift and help others connect the dots to create their most joyful lives. Jen is Off the Curb’s resident “collaboration, connection and confidence” guru with an eye on stopping the doubt and starting the impact, fear or no fear. Her mantra is, “The time is NOW!” She believes that together we can launch dreams and create a positive force that lights up our planet.

Duane Palmieri

Duane is a 20-year veteran of the real estate industry with experience in commercial and residential lending, real estate sales, and investment. He has been active with Keller Williams Realty for the past 18+ years. In addition, Duane embarked on a mission to advance home ownership and independent living opportunities for people with disabilities. Via the non-profit Accessible Dreams, he used his experience as a project manager and his construction background to establish a framework of resources that benefited several local families. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he is married with three adult children, and serves on the board for his real estate office and his Rotary Club. Duane is a strong believer in giving back and supporting his local community.
